What is a .p7m file?
A .p7m file is a document wrapped in a PKCS#7 / CMS (CAdES) cryptographic envelope. It contains an original file (PDF, XML, Word, …) together with one or more digital signatures. Opening it means extracting the original document from that envelope.
Is opening a .p7m file free?
Yes. Opening a single .p7m file and downloading the original document is completely free on P7M Viewer. Batch opening and conversion to .p7m are premium features.
Are my files safe?
Uploaded files are processed only to extract their content and are deleted automatically shortly after. We never share your documents.
Which formats can I convert to .p7m?
You can convert PDF, Word (DOC/DOCX), XML, UDF, RTF and TXT files into a signed .p7m envelope.
Do you verify the digital signature?
P7M Viewer extracts the embedded document without requiring the signer certificate. Full signature validation is on our roadmap.
